Band history

Written by Thomas Clausen. (Bass).

A few years ago, 4 musicians met somewhat by chance. We were brought together by a drummer who had a single party gig for us. We practiced a little bit of everything, some Bryan Ferry, and for example Pink Floyd’s “Time” and at one point one of us suggested “Light My Fire”, as our lead singer and guitarist Christian Olesen’s voice had a strong “crooner touch”.

We all got speechless when we heard Christian perform The Doors’ big hit. It sounded real and authentic, casual, like a crooner does, but serious … all this at once. Exactly as Jim Morrison would have performed it.

In the days after the rehearsal, it became clear to us all that there was no reason to spend time on music other than The Doors. We tried it out in the rehearsal room, and it worked flawlessly. The freedom, the improvisational element in The Doors’ music, together with the seriousness and beauty, – and not the least the sensual element in the music, appealed to us all and we agreed to continue.

Georg Davidsen, our Norwegian guitarist, made it possible for us to include piano, the important organ and strings in the music, thanks to his genious guitar midi system. At the same time, the band has two talented lead guitarists, and thereby the possibility of making multi-part guitar passages.

The Istedgade Festival in Copenhagen 2017 was a breakthrough for us, the hipster community loves The Doors’ music, and even though we are a kind of leisure band, we have played quite a few gigs over the years and continue tirelessly to show new generations what The Doors’ magical musical and poetic universe holds.

In 2025 we got a new drummer when Lars Svane had to withdraw due to illness, and in connection with that we recorded a live LP at the Metronomen venue in Copenhagen, with the young and lively Jeppe Basbøll on drums. We also developed a new concept, a live talk about The Doors’ music, spiced up with a live performance of selected songs, from “The Crystal Ship” to “Peace Frog”. It premiered at Herlev Library in November 2025, and the event was sold out.

2026 has offered good live experiences, including: at Værftet in Havnsø and Herlev community house and we look forward to the venue Smedjen on Bornholm in August 2026. The collaboration with Christian Olesen has made possible a dream that I thought was impossible for many years: throughout my life I have tried my hand at the music of all the big names, from the Stones to Pink Floyd, from Talking Heads to Al Green, but only Christian’s fantastic “croon” has made it possible to seriously interpret The Doors’ music in a way that the audience loves.
